The holiday season always makes me smile! I’m smiling for many reasons:
1) THE ARTFUL WANDERLUST IS HERE!
I finally launched the blog and it’s been so fun sharing it with you so far, and I hope you are enjoying it and continue to. I wanted to launch at the right time, and what better time is there than the holiday season!
2) LIGHTS GALORE – THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS TOO MANY LIGHTS!
This time of year gives me an excuse to hang an excessive amount of lights and my husband can’t argue because I only do this once a year. It’s like a mini light house in our house and I’m guiding all the ships home. I’m perfectly okay with that! Went a little DIY crazy this year, but all in good taste.
3) IT’S ALMOST CHRISTMAS TIME!
Last but not least, it’s only 4 days until Christmas(!) one of my favorite holidays. This will be our first Christmas in the DC area and we’re pretty excited. Walking through the streets and seeing all the lights, makes the holiday season even more cheerful. Added bonus! Not to mention the copious amounts of sweets, hot chocolate and Christmas movies [Thank you Hallmark Channel!]. Note: Baking up a frenzy is a great way to charm your way into leaving work early during the holidays.
Time for a few truths, I do not have a wish list or a Christmas list. I prefer to give gifts rather than receive them, so I make a ‘giving list’ of all the gifts I would like to give on Christmas. My family and I treat Christmas as another holiday to be give thanks, like another Thanksgiving. Before you ask, Christmas involves another big ‘Thanksgiving’ meal.
If you’d like to find of some amazing ways to ‘give’ or ‘give back’ and another reason to smile and #lightup, blogger beauty, Kait of Basking in Burgundy, [I love her to pieces!] wrote an amazing, heart-filled post about the different ways you can give back this season – “My Real Christmas Wish“. I cannot rave about this post enough!
REASONS WHY I #LIGHTUP 2016:
- Family — this word alone encompasses not just blood relatives but friends who become family.
- Travel — poor health conditions or not, being able to travel and see our family is a blessing this year; especially having moved at least twice this year.
- You — you’re my reason for starting and writing this blog; readers, fellow bloggers and Style Collective sisters
The list could go on for days and I would happily ramble on, but after last week’s lengthy post, I’ll give you all a break.
Happy Holidays Everyone!
As always, thanks for stopping by and following me on this wanderlust journey.
